If you are 70 1/2 or older, a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA can help support HSTB’s mission and may benefit you for the tax year.
A qualified charitable distribution, also known as an IRA charitable rollover, lets eligible donors direct funds from an IRA to Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
Because the transfer is made directly from your IRA to HSTB, it can be a useful way to support animals while planning your annual giving.
- Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA to our organization.
- Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year and avoid the IRS penalty.
- Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions.
- Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts.
- Help further the work and mission of HSTB.
Contact your IRA plan administrator: Ask them to make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA to HSTB.
Transfer funds directly: Your IRA funds should be transferred directly to Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
Know the deduction rules: IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable income tax deduction, since the distribution is never counted as taxable income to you.
Share gift instructions: Please contact HSTB if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose.
